Breakfast briefing to boost business growth

‘What’s the next big idea for Doncaster?’ and ‘How good is it to do business in Doncaster?’ were just two of the questions in the latest Doncaster Business Insight Survey and to be further discussed by local business leaders in a new quarterly Breakfast Briefing on Thursday 26 July.

Local businesses recently completed the quarterly Doncaster Business Insight Survey Q2 2018 which asked about their past and future rates of sales, investment, skills, education and topical business matters.

The results will be presented at the Breakfast Briefing by Lee Tillman, assistant director of strategy and performance, Doncaster MBC, against a backdrop of local, regional and national current affairs and insights. They will give a snapshot of how local businesses are ‘truly’ faring and how optimistic they are feeling about their future sales, workforce and growth.

The results will be used by Doncaster Chamber and DMBC to support local businesses and identify issues that need addressing at a local/regional/national level to consequently boost the local economy.

“This is an informative breakfast briefing designed to enable business leaders across Doncaster to keep their finger on the pulse as far as economic and investment conditions are concerned. It’s also an opportunity to hear about current and future investment plans for Doncaster and discuss what’s next to keep growing the economy,” says Rebecca Leam, policy & communications executive, Doncaster Chamber.

“Who would have thought 30-years ago that Doncaster would have an international airport, award winning wildlife park, High Speed Rail College and upcoming film studio/academy and University Technical College – to name but a few of the incredible projects that have and are happening around Doncaster. We’re on an upwards trend and need to keep this momentum going by thinking and acting like a city to keep a positive workforce and economy.”

Keynote speaker Steve Gill, chief executive, Doncaster Sheffield Airport, will share the latest developments on plans to expand the airport including an East Coast mainline rail link and how it will benefit regional, national and international business.

A panel of high profile local business leaders will continue to discuss this and other hot business matters that are impacting on the local/regional/national economy with opportunities for questions and answers from the floor.

Panellists include Kate Stow, head of marketing and communications, Doncaster Sheffield Airport, Cheryl Williams, chief executive, Yorkshire Wildlife Park, Dr. Alasdair Strachen, director of education, Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Andrew Ashworth, owner, IGO Pets Limited, and Lee Tillman, assistant director of strategy and performance, DMBC.

The Doncaster Business Insight Breakfast Briefing, organised by Doncaster Chamber in partnership with DMBC, and sponsored by ProAktive, is a key opportunity for delegates to benchmark their own business against others, network with key influencers over breakfast, and be part of the strong force driving Doncaster forward.
