Digital Marketing Apprentice at Concorde BGW
Danielle Poulston, Digital Marketing Apprentice at Concorde BGW, talks to us about her apprenticeship experience.
Danielle has worked at Concorde BGW – an award-winning design group – for almost three years. After completing her first apprenticeship with the business in Business Administration in 2018, she jumped at the opportunity to venture into digital marketing and she’s never looked back.
How long have you worked for Concorde BGW and what do you enjoy about your role?
"As of February 2021, I have worked at Concorde BGW for two years and 10 months. I work in the Marketing department and I enjoy a range of things about my role. One of my favourite tasks is creating and uploading content onto Concorde’s website. It really like seeing all the little parts come together to create a project or a news page.
I have really enjoyed learning so much about digital marketing, this includes the website development knowledge I have where I can use lots of different systems including WordPress and Wix. I have created things that business uses as key communication tool such as the Team Times, an internal newsletter which has all our company announcements in."
Why did you choose to do an apprenticeship at Concorde?
"I chose to complete my first apprenticeship in business administration with Concorde BGW in 2018, I really liked the sound of the industry and thought I would learn a lot. The staff were also really welcoming and since then I wanted to stay and progress in my career, so I jumped at the opportunity to do the Digital Marketing apprenticeship after my business admin one. I learnt so much on my first one which set me up perfectly to go into the digital marketing role."
"It is a special feeling and definitely makes me proud of everything I’m learning. Looking back to a few years ago I can see how far I’ve come." - Danielle Poulston, Digital Marketing Apprentice
How would you describe the culture?
"Concorde BGW pride themselves on having 5 company values which we incorporate into our work: teamwork, innovation, integrity, pride and clarity. I think this helps keep everyone focused and want to do their best. Before Covid we also had away days for staff to enjoy each other’s company over drinks or bowling as well as having a Christmas party and going to the races. Every month we would also have pizza delivered on a Friday as a treat and over the first lockdown everyone received a care package. Overall Concorde want everyone in the company to feel valued and I think our Culture Director does this very well."
What has been the most rewarding/interesting project you have been involved in and why?
I think the most rewarding project I have been part of has been creating and uploading content to go on Concorde’s website, learning how to work a completely new system and seeing it grow from a blank canvas with every project, news page, and award page I have developed. It is a special feeling and definitely makes me proud of everything I’m learning. Looking back to a few years ago I can see how far I’ve come.
Working has helped grow my confidence, passion and enthusiasm for the business and my own personal life. It has helped me cultivate focus, appreciate what I like and what I am good at. Completing a work placement has helped me achieve my potential by overcoming my fears. I now believe in myself and abilities, and I can work confidently as a marketing professional."
