South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority: Education, Skills and Employability
Joining the Chamber makes you part of something much bigger, with us having strong ties to the local authority, South Yorkshire’s top education providers, government departments, the Team Doncaster strategic partnership and, of course, the national British Chambers of Commerce network. Another one of these valued partners is the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority.
How SYMCA Works With Business On Educaiton and Skills
SYMCA is responsible for delivering a number of schemes, projects and programmes across our region that are available for both individuals and businesses.
These include the UK Government’s Skills for Life programmes; the South Yorkshire Apprenticeship Hub, Free Courses for Jobs, Multiply and Skills Bootcamps, and circa £40m of devolved funding through the Adult Skills Fund.
South Yorkshire Skills Bank, another pioneering scheme from the MCA, provides employers with access to high-quality training and a financial contribution towards the cost of upskilling their workforces.
SYMCA is also targeting the health inequalities in our region with programmes such as its flagship scheme, Working Win (which has already helped 6,500 people in South Yorkshire with a health-related condition to find and stay in work) and WorkWell (a new service offering intensive support to help people find, stay and succeed in work).
SYMCA also launched South Yorkshire’s first Skills Strategy in March 2024. Find out more via the link below.
