City of Doncaster Council operates a number of regulatory departments that interact with businesses on a daily basis. These include:
The Planning Department
Providing a range of information and services to help deliver sustainable development in the borough, this team will engage and consult with you before you submit your planning application and will assist in finding solutions that move it towards permission being granted.
Building Control
This team is responsible for ensuring that the building control system is adhered to; meaning that buildings are structurally sound, safe in the event of fire, have adequate drainage, ventilation and toilet facilities, are accessible for disabled persons and are energy efficient to heat and light.
The team's Building Control Surveyors are available to give advice, before, during or after a building project is completed.
Environmental Health
The services that fall under this umbrella provide a range of support and guidance to support businesses of all sizes
Licencing
The council has responsibility for issuing a number licences, permits and registrations for a wide variety of business activities here in Doncaster.
Business Rates
The councils' business rates service is responsible for collecting business rates but also provides help, support and advice to businesses with regards to said payments
