Joining the Chamber makes you part of something much bigger, with us having strong ties to the local authority, South Yorkshire’s top education providers, the Team Doncaster strategic partnership and, of course, the national British Chambers of Commerce network. Another one of these valued partners is the The Department for Business & Trade.
About The Department for Business & Trade
A ministerial department, headed by the Secretary of State for Business & Trade, DBT is committed to delivering growth across our nation’s economy, and to promoting British trade on the world stage.
It achieves this through a number of different mechanisms and services that are provided in over 100 markets across the globe.
Among other things, DBT offers sector-specific events, virtual trade missions, knowledgeable advice on all things exporting & eCommerce, and even funding for SMEs in cases where the requisite eligibility criteria is met.
Here in the Yorkshire and Humber region, DBT operates out of an office in Barnsley, with over 30 expert advisors at hand to support local businesses.
How They Work With Business
Helping businesses to develop and innovate, DBT has a robust offer for firms.
This includes: tailored and sector specific events; virtual trade missions; advice on selling online; a Brexit checker tool; and a specialist Export Academy that gives SMEs the necessary knowhow to sell to their customers around the world.
In addition to this, their Internationalisation Fund provides match-funded grants of anywhere between £1,000 and £9,000 to eligible SMEs. Said money can be used to help your business expand overseas, whether that's by funding market research, IP advice, translation services, international social media, market visits, consultancy or other such commercial services.
