Your business needs, straight to 10 Downing Street
As an organisation that campaigns to make South Yorkshire the best possible environment for business, understanding our members’ experiences of the regional economy is vital.
Your feedback is an invaluable measure of different aspects of business. The results are used to influence local, regional and national governments and decision makers to help shape the support structures available to the local business community. At the national level, it’s a leading indicator – often picking up big changes in the economy long before other surveys or official statistics:
The Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee uses the QES as one of its key benchmarks when setting interest rates.
HM Treasury and the independent Office for Budget Responsibility use the QES to put together their forecasts for the UK’s economic performance.
About The Quarterly Economic Survey
The South Yorkshire Quarterly Economic Survey feeds into the nationwide Quarterly Economic Survey.
Each quarter — in addition to the standard questions that remain unchanged — the survey features a small number of 'snapshot' questions on an issue that is particularly pertinent at that time. Previous topics have included skills supply, innovation, and access to finance.
You do not need to be a current Doncaster Chamber member to respond to the QES, and all responses are reported anonymously.
All previous QES results can be found below.
Quarterly Policy Briefings
The results of the South Yorkshire Quarterly Economic Survey provide valuable insight into the challenges and opportunities facing the region's businesses. Each quarter, we provide a briefing to review the key findings and implications that is directly fed through to policy makers, local and national government. The latest briefings can be found below.
